YouTheatre Auditions/Workshops (Grades 1-5)

Once Upon a High School

Who can audition:  grades 3-5

Auditions:
February 18th for last names A-L
February 19th for last names M-Z 
5:30-7:30PM
Students who cannot attend their scheduled audition may audition on the other date.

Prepare:  A short poem to recite using voice and body movement to create emotions, character, and excitement.  It is recommended that the poem be memorized as it gives the actor greater freedom. Shel Silverstein poems are great to use.

Bring:  clothes you can move in, a pen or pencil

Auditioners will be asked to act out their poems, demonstrate basic acting techniques, and read parts from the script.

The cast list will be posted after auditions on the cast list page.  You should visit the production forms page to download the rehearsal calendar and obtain other information you need for cast and crew members.


Drama Camp

Who can participate:  Grades 1-2

There are no auditions in order to participate in this two week drama camp, however space is very limited so turn in your application as soon as possible.  Applications will be mailed to parents in August, however you may e-mail rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org if you want an application earlier.

Middle School (plus grade 6) Fall Play
Who can audition:  Grades 6-8

Auditions:
August 28th 
3:30-6:00PM

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil
You do not need to prepare a monologue in order to audition.
Auditioners will be asked to demonstrate basic acting techniques as well as read parts from the script.

The cast list will be posted on the cast list page after auditions.  You should visit the production forms page to download the rehearsal calendar and obtain other information you need for cast and crew members.


All Shook Up

Middle School (plus grade 6) Winter Musical

Who can audition:  grades 6-8

Auditions:
October 28th and 29th from 3:30-6:00 Cassingham Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

You do not need to prepare any materials.

The first day auditioners will learn a short dance, a few songs, and then do some cold reads from the script.

The second day auditioners will sing the songs alone and perform the dance in a small group.

On call backs, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.

Who can audition:  grades 9-12

Auditions:
January 13th and 14th from 3:30-7:30 Cassingham Theater

The first day auditioners will learn songs from the musical,  a short dance, and do a cold read of a scene from the musical.

The second day auditioners will sing one of the songs they learned and perform the dance they learned.

On call backs, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.
