Audition Information
YouTheatre Auditions/Workshops (Grades 1-5)

Beauty of the Dreaming Wood

Who can audition:  grades 3-5

Auditions:
March 4th for last names A-L
March 5th for last names M-Z 
5:30-7:30PM
Cassingham Theater

Students who cannot attend their scheduled audition may audition on the other date.

Prepare:  A short poem to recite using voice and body movement to create emotions, character, and excitement.  It is recommended that the poem be memorized as it gives the actor greater freedom. Shel Silverstein poems are great to use.

Bring:  clothes you can move in, a pen or pencil

Auditioners will be asked to act out their poems, demonstrate basic acting techniques, and read parts from the script.

Drama Camp

Who can participate:  Grades 1-2

There are no auditions in order to participate in this two week drama camp, however space is very limited so turn in your application as soon as possible.  Applications will be mailed to parents in February, however you may e-mail rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org if you want an application earlier.

The Election

Middle School (plus grade 6) Fall Play

Who can audition:  Grades 6-8

Auditions:
Sept 5th 
3:30-6:00PM
Cassingham Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil
You do not need to prepare a monologue in order to audition.
Auditioners will be asked to demonstrate basic acting techniques as well as read parts from the script.

Oliver!

Middle School (plus grade 6) Winter Musical

Who can audition:  grades 6-8

Auditions:
Nov 7th and 8th from 3:30-6:30 Cassingham Theater

Callbacks:
Nov 9th from 3:30-6:30 Cassingham Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

You do not need to prepare any materials.

The first day auditioners will learn a short dance and then perform it.  They will then learn some short songs.

The second day auditioners will sing the songs and do some acting and script reading.

On callbacks, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.

Oliver!

Although this is mainly a middle school production, there will be a small chorus of high school students as well as a few high school main characters, such as Fagin and Nancy.  This is a great opportunity to become even more involved in the Bexley theatre department.

Crazy for You

High school Spring Musical

Who can audition:  grades 9-12

Auditions:
January 22nd and 23rd from 3:30-7:30 Cassingham Theater

Callbacks: 
January 24th from 3:30-7:30 Cassingham Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

The first day auditioners will learn songs from the musical,  a short dance, and do a cold read of a scene from the musical.

The second day auditioners will sing one of the songs they learned and perform the dance they learned.

On callbacks, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.
