Cast for The Crucible

PLEASE READ!!!!

Casting shows is always a difficult heartache, and this play was no exception.  Let me reiterate, casting this show was HARD.  Over 40 students auditioned, which is more people than many schools get for their musicals.  I am truly blessed to have so much student support and talent, and yet it is a curse when I have to cut so many talented, hard-working people.  Let me reiterate, I had to cut TALENTED, HARD WORKING, FABULOUS PEOPLE, including students I personally love working with and never thought I would cut ever as well as a few who auditioned better than I have ever seen them!

If you were cast, congratulations!  The first rehearsal is on Monday, September 24th from 5:00-6:30PM in the Dargusch Theater (Studio Theater/high school room 4201).  I will be handing out scripts and packets, and cast members will have their pictures and costume measurements taken.  If for any reason you cannot attend this first rehearsal, please e-mail me at rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org as soon as possible so I know you accept your role and can arrange to get you all your materials.  The rehearsal calendar and scene breakdown will be available on this website shortly, as well as the cast packet with all the forms you need.

If you were not cast, please don’t be hard on yourself.  I cannot even count the number of times I have been cut from a show, but it has hurt every time and I know it’s hard not to take it personally.  Casting is a giant puzzle, and sometimes not all the pieces fit.  Casting was done based on who could do each part well, work well with students in other parts, and also on after school availability.  Because of such a large turnout, over one-third of the people who auditioned couldn’t be cast.  We could still use a few students on crew!  Crew typically meets Monday-Thursday from 3:30-6:00.  Please contact Stephen Hayes at stephen.hayes@bexleyschools.org for more details.  You are a valuable member of the theatre department, and the worst thing that can happen would be to make this your last theatre experience.

There are many other opportunities to be involved in theatre at Bexley as well.  This year there will be a one act in December to take to Area Thespian Conference as well as the ever popular spring musical, Crazy for You.  Plus there are a ton of field trips and events such as conferences and Renaissance Festival.  Please check this website under events for more details.
