Cast for Alice in Wonderland

Casting shows is always a difficult heartache, and this play was no exception.  Let me reiterate, casting this show was HARD.  76 students in grades 6-8 came to auditions, which is more people than many of the musicals.  I am truly blessed to have so much student support and talent, and yet it is a curse when I have to cut so many talented, hard working people.

If you were cast, congratulations!  The first rehearsal is on Monday, September 13th from 3:30-5:00PM in the Studio Theater.  I will be handing out scripts and packets, and cast members will have their pictures and measurements taken.  If for any reason you cannot attend this first rehearsal, please e-mail me at rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org as soon as possible so I know you accept your role and can arrange to get you all your materials.  Please try to attend rehearsal for at least the first ½ hour however.  The rehearsal calendar and scene breakdown are available on the downloads page of this website.  The rehearsal packet should be available for download this Friday.

If you were not cast, please don’t be hard on yourself.  I cannot even count the number of times I have been cut from a show, but it has hurt every time and I know it’s hard not to take it personally.  Casting is a giant puzzle, and sometimes not all the pieces fit.  Casting was done based on who could do each part well, work well with students in other parts, and also on after school availability.  Because of such a large turnout, half of the people who auditioned couldn’t be cast.  Please look forward to the musical auditions on Oct 25th-27th, and don’t worry if you can’t sing or dance—we’re here to teach you!  Also, we’d love to have you on crew.  The first crew meeting is on Tuesday, September 14th at the cage behind the HS Theater from 3:30-4:30PM, and you’ll receive all the info you need there.  You are a valuable member of the theatre department, and the worst thing that can happen would be to make this your last theatre experience.

LET’S PARTY!!  You are all invited to attend the Jr. Thespian Ice Cream Social on Sunday, September 19th from 7:00PM-8:30PM at 829 Francis Avenue (Charlotte Freccia’s house).   According to your last name, please bring:  A-H ice cream, I-P drinks, Q-Z toppings.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN OFFICIAL JR. THESPIAN TO ATTEND, you just have to like/want to be a part of theatre!
